The Twilio alternative for Indian agencies + SMBs.
Communications-API-first; not a SaaS inbox. Twilio's WhatsApp is API access + Conversations API, not a turnkey product. Different shape of buyer. If you're evaluating Twilio for NextAiBot's use case (WhatsApp + IG + FB + GMB white-label for Indian agencies, with Coexistence, 24-hour window enforcement and agency-prepaid invitations), here's the honest side-by-side.
- Feature-by-feature comparison across 8 dimensions -- no hand-waving.
- INR-priced and GST-compliant, built for the Indian agency motion.
- If you've built on raw Twilio APIs, plan for 1-2 weeks to migrate flows + reroute webhooks. The savings are real but the work is real too.
NextAiBot vs Twilio— the honest side-by-side
Twiliois a strong product. Below is where we differ — not a teardown, just the categories where the two of us make different bets. Anything we can't confidently claim, we mark "Partial" or "Roadmap".
| Feature | NextAiBot | Twilio |
|---|---|---|
Turnkey inbox UI Twilio is an API platform; you build the inbox yourself or pair with Flex. | — | |
WhatsApp Cloud API native | ||
Flow builder (visual drag-drop) Twilio Studio works but is engineer-shaped; ours is operator-shaped. | Partial | |
White-label out of the box | — | |
Coexistence (beta) | — | |
GST-compliant INR invoicing | — | |
Agency-prepaid client invitations | — | |
GMB / Google Business Profile | — |
When NextAiBot fits better than Twilio
- You want a turnkey inbox + flow builder, not an API + engineering team.
- You're billing Indian SMBs in INR and need GST + agency-shaped operations.
- You're an agency, not a software company -- and you need to ship for clients, not build infra.
The flip side: if your stack is genuinely well-served by Twilio(their feature is documented above as ✓ in a category we don't have), you should stay. We don't pretend to be a strict superset.
Migration off Twilio
If you've built on raw Twilio APIs, plan for 1-2 weeks to migrate flows + reroute webhooks. The savings are real but the work is real too.
- Contacts + tags + custom attributes — CSV import covers most Twilio exports.
- WhatsApp templates— need fresh approval on Meta because they're tied to the WABA. We hand-hold this with you.
- Flows / bots— redesigned in our visual builder. Same logic, different UI; takes a couple of hours per flow.
- Conversation history — archived on Twilio, not migrated. Fresh slate from cutover.
Frequently asked
How long does a Twilio migration take in practice?+
If you've built on raw Twilio APIs, plan for 1-2 weeks to migrate flows + reroute webhooks. The savings are real but the work is real too.
Will I lose my conversation history when I move?+
Conversation history stays archived on Twilio; we don't import historical messages. New customer messages from cutover onwards land in our inbox cleanly. Contact metadata (tags, attributes) ports via CSV.
Do I need to re-approve my WhatsApp templates on Meta?+
Yes -- templates are tied to your WABA + the BSP that's making the API call. When you migrate, we submit fresh copies of your templates from our side and Meta re-approves them (usually 1-24h each). We hand-hold this step.
What if my use of Twilio is genuinely well-served and I'd be downgrading?+
Then stay with Twilio. We're not trying to win every comparison -- the table above lists the categories where Twilio wins too. If your stack actively uses those capabilities, the move would cost you more than you'd gain.
Is the migration team a sales pitch in disguise or do you actually help?+
Actually help. We map your Twilio flows + templates to our equivalents, plan the cutover window, and stay on call during go-live. The migration usually pays for itself in the first month via the pricing difference.
Can I run both Twilio and NextAiBot in parallel to compare?+
Yes, on different WABA / phone numbers. WhatsApp Cloud API requires one BSP per number, so the same number can't be live on both at the same time -- but you can test us on a spare number alongside your Twilio production setup before cutover.
